Local policing priorities announced

Thursday 21 January 2021

Police neighbourhood teams have announced their priorities for the next three months following feedback from the public.

Priority Setting Forums are regularly conducted by police to hear the concerns of local residents, council representatives and members of the local education and business communities. Feedback from members of the public plays a huge part in the decision making and information provided via the local Constabulary’s community voice platform ‘echo’ has been used to shape the latest priorities.

Residents will see work being conducted to tackle these issues, which will include increased police presence and targeted enforcement.

Concerns have been raised in Hertford about people congregating in vehicles in Gascoyne Way car park in the evenings, racing around the car park and surrounding roads, creating noise. There have also been reports of incidents of violence, disorder and anti-social behaviour in Castle Ward on Friday and Saturday evenings, between 9pm and 4am.

Crime and disorder in the Norwood Close area of the Sekle Far Estate, believed to be linked to drugs, has also been highlighted.

East Herts Chief Inspector Stuart Orton said: "Feedback from members of the public is vital to ensure that local policing resources are focusing on the issues that matter most to them. I want to thank everyone who has contacted us with their views and would encourage others to get involved.

"While things are very different for everyone at the moment, my local officers are still out and about, responding to any concerns and issues raised.

"You can follow the work of local officers on Twitter @EastHertsPolice, to see what action is being taken on a daily basis to help keep East Herts a safe place to live, work and visit."
