£6m boost for EV charging points
Hertfordshire County Council have been awarded £6m by the Department for Transport to support Electric Vehicle charging across the county.

In partnership with district and borough councils, the funding will allow more EV chargepoints to be rolled out, helping people to make the switch from petrol and diesel cars to electric vehicles.
The council's priority is to expand the EV charging network for residents, primarily to support those who don’t have access to off-street parking and to provide them with the opportunity to charge their vehicles in a number of easily accessible locations. There is the potential to install chargepoints in Hertfordshire’s existing car parks as well as charging in the form of hubs and in some on street locations where suitable and in line with our strategy. This funding will help accelerate the investment in local charging infrastructure across the county.
Mark Doran, Executive Director of Growth and Environment at Hertfordshire County Council said: "As more of our residents make the switch from petrol and diesel vehicles to EV’s, it’s important and necessary that we are providing the infrastructure to allow them to charge their vehicles. The DfT funding will help us to progress the strategy we published in September 2023 in conjunction with our district and borough councils and other key stakeholders."
