Kingsmead viaduct work to cause delays

Inspection, maintenance, and repairs to the A10 Kingsmead viaduct is expected to cause up to seven weeks of delays duromg August and September.

Works being carried out by County Council contractors includes inspecting the bridge structure, repairing the concrete at the end of the bridge support, carriageway improvements and cleaning drainage systems.

As well as road and lane closures between the Westmill and Rush Green junctions, there will also be parking restrictions and lane closures on the A119 Ware Road beneath the viaduct.

Works scheduled to take place over the seven week period include:

Monday 7 August - Thursday 21 September 2023 (24/7)
Lane closures on the A10 between Westmill Interchange and the A414/A10 Interchange. Specialist Inspection and testing to internal and external bridge structure and monitoring system. Drain clearance and verge maintenance.

Monday 7 August - Thursday 21 September 2023 (24/7)
Parking restriction on Ware Road under Kings Mead Viaduct. Installation and maintenance of site compound for maintenance, repair and inspection works on the Kingsmead Viaduct

Monday 7 August and Tuesday 8 August 2023 (9pm - 5am)
Full closure and diversion of the A10 North Bound and South Bound consecutively, to implement safe lane closures on the A10, some overnight carriageway closures will be required on these dates.

Saturday 2 September and Sunday 3 September 2023 (9pm - 5am)
Full closure and diversion of the A10 North Bound and South Bound consecutively, to implement safe lane closures on the A10, some overnight carriageway closures will be required on these dates.

Monday 4 September 2023 (9.30am - 3pm)
Off-peak lane closures with traffic lights on the A119 Ware Road, located under Kingsmead viaduct. Bus stop will be suspended.

Monday 4 September - Wednesday 6 September 2023 (9.30am - 3pm)
A10 North Bound on slip road closure. Specialist Inspection and testing to internal and external bridge structure and monitoring system. Drain clearance and verge maintenance.

Monday 4th September (9:30am - 3pm)
Off peak, 2 way traffic signals on Ware Road, located under Kingsmead viaduct. Bus stop to be suspended
Inspection of Kingsmead Viaduct by Cherry-picker from Ware Road.

Saturday 16 September and Sunday 17 September 2023 (9pm - 5am)
Full closure and diversion of the A10 North Bound and South Bound consecutively.
