Woman charged with shoplifting
A woman from Bishop's Stortford has been charged with two shoplifting offences after PCSOs patrolling Hertford town centre were alerted to suspicious behaviour by store staff.

Officers on patrol in Fore Street last Thursday (23rd July) were alerted to a woman allegedly acting suspiciously near the self-service checkouts at Marks and Spencer Food Hall.
A woman was found outside the shop in possession of items that had been taken from the store. Officers detained her until response officers arrived and arrested her on suspicion of shoplifting.
While in custody, she was further arrested in connection with an additional theft reported earlier that day at the Co-op on Fleming Crescent, Hertford.
Harriet Mayhew, aged 30, of Stockmen Field, Bishop's Stortford, was charged with two counts of theft following incidents at M&S and the Co-op. She has since been released on bail and is due to appear at Stevenage Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 23rd September 2026.
