Yarnbombers reveal coronation postbox toppers
The Secret Society of Hertford Crafters have been busy on their latest project decorating the town's postboxes.
The project sees 37 Coronation-themed Postbox toppers installed, with 26 toppers in Hertford and 11 in Ware.
There are 5 key themes: Coronation, Celebration, King Charles, Community, and Conservation.
The Yarnbombers website gives more information about some of the themes depicted.
We have Crowns, Thrones and Castles, Champagne, Afternoon Tea, metres of Bunting and small scenes of people meeting together for neighbourhood parties. King Charles's interests are also represented with him at Balmoral, his garden at Highgrove and sailing.
Our local communities and volunteering can be found with a nod to Mudlarks, Essex and Herts Air Ambulance (our charity for 2023) and even Yarnbombers who bring so much joy to everyone.
The representations of symbols of Countries which make up the community of the UK are being crafted and also the wider Commonwealth Community. Masses of trees and flowers, and the King's concern for conservation and our planet are shown and we couldn't possibly leave out King Charles’ Patronage for the Campaign for Wool which he helped to found in 2010.
