Community Grants awarded
The latest round of grants to local organisations have been announced, with over £10,000 going to local groups.
Hertford Town Council's Finance, Policy and Administration Committee met on Monday 4th January 2021 where grants totalling £11,861 were awarded to five Hertford-based organisations and good causes.
936 (Hertford & Ware) Squadron Air Training Corps were awarded a New Homes Bonus Grant of £8,000 towards a replacement minibus.
The Parochial Church Council of Bengeo Parish received £861 towards landscaping work to extend the Garden of Remembrance at Holy Trinity Church, Bengeo.
Community grants were awarded to:
- The Hertford Club who were awarded £1,200 towards extensive repair work for their building.
- Hertford Voices Touring Choir were awarded £600 towards hiring a larger venue to allow safe practice during Covid-19.
- The Rotary Club of Hertford were awarded £1,200 towards the Hertford Fun Day.
The Chairman of the Finance, Policy and Administration Committee, Cllr Peter Ruffles, said: "During these difficult and uncertain times Hertford Town Council is pleased to be able to assist organisations and good causes in the local community with grant funding. The selection of grants awarded on Monday really shows the variety of organisations and causes that can benefit from this scheme and the wide range of projects. We encourage other local organisations to apply for funding particularly if are undertaking projects which will support the local community during or to recover from the pandemic."
Community Grants of up to £1,200 are awarded for a range of purposes, including public events, projects being undertaken by local voluntary organisations and endeavours by individuals which show a clear benefit to Hertford residents.
New Homes Bonus Grants of up to £30,000 are available from the New Homes Bonus fund for ambitious projects to enhance and improve communities in Hertford. Available funding is used to support and encourage a diverse range of improvement schemes and projects across all age ranges, a wide range of interests and wherever possible innovative initiatives to meet the needs of Hertford residents and businesses.
