MP supports Rush Green enforcement petition
Local residents have launched a petition to encourage Hertfordshire County Council to enforce a Clearway on the Rush Green roundabout

The Clearway was put in place to stop vehicles queueing on the roundabout as they wait to access the MacDonald's takeaway service. This is perceived to obstruct the free flow of traffic and blocks access to the roundabout from Stansted Road. However, many motorists using the restaurant appear to be unaware of the restriction.
The longstanding issue has been raised with the council a number of times and a protest was held outside the restaurant in 2019.
Recent proposals to add a queueing lane on land adjacent to the roundabout have been stalled by technical issues. The plan would have taken around 21 cars off the roundabout but has been dropped following objections from the local flood authority and Hertfordshire County Council.
The residents' association has now launched an online petition asking the council to enforce the Clearway, using new powers to install enforcement cameras and levy fines on those who breach the regulations.
The Association are also hoping to stage a public meeting on the issue next month (March).
Josh is keen to talk to McDonalds and HCC about the way forward. We are looking at the potential of setting up a public meeting in March at which Josh would update on where he has got to in his discussions. Josh emphasized he is very keen to reach a solution.

Concerns about the hazard presented by queueing traffic at Rush Green go back over a decade.
The town's former MP Julie Marson told Parliament in 2021 that a solution had been found but this proved to be premature.
