Art Society stages 71st annual exhibition
Hertford Art Society opens its 71st annual art exhibition at Cowbridge Halls on Saturday (27th), running until next Sunday 5th May.

The week-long exhibition will feature paintings and 3D works by members, and includes this year's Art Society prizewinners:
- The John Goss Prize for Best in Show awarded to John Jarratt for 'Finished'
- The Lady Laming Award for best Abstract awarded to Judith Moule for 'Beneath the surface'
- The Bill Dale Award for best Member’s work awarded to Angela Roberts for 'Tulips and masons china'
- The Mayor's Award Sponsored by The Arts Society East Herts for best 3D awarded to John Speilman for 'Offcuts'
- Best Watercolour sponsored by A S Handover Ltd Brush Manufacturers awarded to Jill Rolfe for 'Dark over Bill’s Mother’s'
- Drawing Prize – Special donation by James Willis (judge) awarded to Colin J Clarke for 'The outgoing tide, Pembrokeshire'
- Visitors’ Choice Award - tba
Hertford Art Society was formed in 1953 and aims to encourage local interest in art by providing opportunities to practice, study and exhibit art. The society has a membership of 120 people, including beginners, enthusiasts, seasoned painters and one or two professional painters.
This year's Open Exhibition runs until Sunday 5th May at Cowbridge Halls, Cowbridge, Hertford SG14 1PG and is open Weekdays from 10am to 8pm, Saturdays 8am to 10pm and Sundays 10am to 5pm. More details about the society can be found on Hertford Art Society's website.
