Thousands attend live music weekend
Hertford's annual bank holiday weekend of live music drew thousands to pubs, bars and cafés across Hertford Town Centre on Sunday 27th August.
Some venues were full to capacity with as many as 25 premises in the town centre and beyond taking part in the event, hosting live music from 11am to midnight.
Local musician and events promoter Kev Saunders, who dreamed up the Musical Mystery Tour in 2006 and has been developing it ever since, said, "There was enormous disappointment among publicans and the public when the authorities’ demands and lack of co-operation made it impossible for the Hertford Music Festival team to continue with the Musical Mystery Tour. But almost all of Hertford’s publicans were determined to see some sort of live music event take place over the bank holiday. So lots of them staged their own individual live music events. Which is precisely what we’d been doing for the last 17 years.
I’d like to thank those who continued to hire me to sort out their acts, sound systems and engineers: McMullens, The Shipton Hospitality Group, The Millstream, Peach and Deco. And although it’s not the MMT anymore, I'm delighted still to be involved in bringing live music to the town's bars and pubs over the August bank holiday weekend".
