Tuesday 23 May 2023

Outgoing Mayor of Hertford Mrs Sue Barber ended her tenure last week after raising over £14,000 for two local charities.

Each Mayor of Hertford selects two charities to support during their term in office, with Mrs Barber’s chosen charities being FUTUREhope and Hertford Dramatic and Operatic Society.

Mrs Barber said: "I have had an amazing year as Mayor of our County Town of Hertford and I am delighted to be able to present to my two chosen charities HDOS & Future Hope substantial cheques to each of them for them to be able to put to good use."

"Both charities are close to my heart and are based in Hertford and I hope that they will be able to continue to carry on their good work helping others in the community. I have been so lucky that the residents of Hertford have wholeheartedly supported me in attending all the events that I have hosted throughout the year raising this fantastic amount of money. I cannot thank them enough"

FutureHope's Project Manager Daved Hollis said: "A huge thank you to Mayor Barber and her team for the tireless work they have put in to fund-raising for FUTUREhope Hertford & Ware during our year as one of her charities. We are thrilled by the amount raised and will ensure it is put to good use supporting and empowering young people in Hertford and Ware to give them hope for the future."

Hertford Dramatic and Operatic Society's President Lynne Warrilow said: "On behalf of Hertford Dramatic and Operatic Society I would like to thank the Mayor for choosing us as one of her charities
this year. The money that she has raised for us is very much appreciated and will be used to further the society’s work within our community. I would also like to thank her for her attendance at our events and for inviting us to participate in hers. We have enjoyed working with her this year and wish her well for the future."
