Greens gain as Tories lose control

Green candidates have made big gains in yesterday's local council elections, with Conservatives losing their majority.

Hertford elects ten representes to the District Council.

Bengeo and Kingsmead both elected three Green councillors, whilst Sele elected two Labour.

Conservative councillors Jan Goodeve, Sally Newton and Rosemary Bolton failed to be re-elected.

A recount is under way for Hertford Castle ward.
