Club issue update on player

Hertford Town Football Club have issued a statement on the condition of player Potchu Mendes, following a medical emergency during the match against Dunstable on Saturday.

The game was stopped during the second half whilst Mendes was given life-saving treatment.

We'd like to give an update on the condition of our player, Potchu Mendes, following his cardiac arrest on the pitch during Saturday's game away at AFC Dunstable.

We are overjoyed to announce that he is on the road to a full recovery. and is in a stable condition in hospital. We would like to place on record, our overwhelming gratitude and appreciation to the heroes involved in saving Potchu's life; Paige Simmon (Hertford Town FC Physio), Alssan Ann (AFC Dunstable player), Niki (AFC Dunstable Physio) and the Air Ambulance and Ambulance Crews who were on the scene.

The quick reaction and thinking of all those involved and the aid of the mobile,AED in our dugout, all contriuted to saving Potcghu's life

In what were extremely distressing scenes, we'd like to thank all of the management, staff and fans of AFC Dunstable for their help and support on the day.

On behalf of ourselves and Potchu, we'd like to express our thanks and appreciation to the wider football community for all of their well wishes and supportive messages we have received; its been nothing short of overwhelming, thank you.
