Local radio station launches

Monday 2 August 2021

A new online radio station for East Herts launched at yesterday's live music event in the grounds of Hertford Castle.

Unite Rado is the brainchild of Jono Godlee, who moved to Hertford in September 2019.

"Everyone I have had the good fortune of meeting has been so very kind and welcoming and Unite Radio is my way of giving back to the community of East Hertfordshire", said Jono.

The station aims to bring together local people through the use of cutting edge broadcasting technology and drawing on the talent of a production team who care deeply about their local community.

The online streaming station aim to harness the sense of community that's developed in East Herts over the course of the Coronavirus pandemic, planning to provide local people with a community focused radio station that offers opportunities and supports local residents, businesses and charities as they rebuild after the pandemic.

With a production team boasting more than 30 years experience in the radio industry, Unite Radio are also hoping to support local artists, with the team inviting local musicians to get in touch and submit their work.

Working for the benefit of the community, Unite Radio is not run for profit and reinvests any money earned into the station. They have so far secured grant funding from Hertford Town Council to support their burgeoning project.

Recognising the impact that the pandemic has had on businesses, Unite Radio wants to offer as much support as possible to firms in East Herts as the local economy reopens. They are offering a full first year of advertising completely free to local businesses, charities and other organisations who get in touch at www.uniteradio.co.uk/advertising-packages.
