Julie Marson is new MP

Conservatives have held the seat of Hertford & Stortford, with Julie Marson being elected to replace Mark Prisk.

Despite a reduced share of the vote, Ms.Marson polled 33,712 votes - 56.1% of the poll, with Labour's Chris Vince coming in second with 14,092 votes (23.4%). Chris Lucas for the Liberal Democrats increased their share of the vote by 6.2% with 8,596 votes.

Posting on Twitter, M.Marson said: "Thank you so much to the people of Hertford and Stortford for placing your trust in me. I will be your voice in Parliament and put you at the heart of everything I do."

Former constituency MP Mark Prisk announced in September that he would not be standing for re-election after 18 years.
