The barriers and associated and glazed fencing would be located in the middle of the existing concourse and replace the existing payment validators at the entrances to platforms 1 and 2.
Train operator Great Anglia say the new barriers and screen are necessary for the operation of the station.
The barriers and screening would be installed in the middle of the concourse (shown in blue).
The plans also include the relocation of a bench and removal of two cycle stands.
A planning application and associated Listed Building Consent application have been submitted to East Herts District Council and will be determined by a planning officer following consultation.

The station is a Grade II listed building designed by William Ashbee and opened in 1888. The former Dolpin public house opposite was originally The Station Hotel and has features that echo those of the station..
