Stevenage rail replacement service starts
The new bus replacement service to Stevenage starts today as the new summer rail timetable comes in to effect.

Weekday services will be operated by buses from both Hertford North and Watton at Stone, whilst work is carried out at Stevenage mainline station to build a new fifth platform.
Watton-at-Stone will continue to be served by trains to/from London and a normal train service between Stevenage and Watton-at-Stone will continue to operate at weekends.
Buses will leave Hertford North at the usual times shown in the summer timetable.
Stevenage Turnback
The Stevenage Turnback project includes the construction by Network Rail of around 2 kilometers of new, electrified railway, changes to the signalling systems, major civil engineering, and physical work at Stevenage Station including the introduction of a new fifth platform. This significant project will enable Great Northern to increase the frequency of trains to two per hour all day in each direction between Stevenage and Watton-at-Stone and will help to improve the reliability of all services.
It is expected that schedules train services to Stevenage will resume in the Summer 2020 timetable.
Passenger and project information including details on ticket acceptance is available on the dedicated web page at www.greatnorthernrail.
