Criminal damage on the rise
The latest crime statistics for Hertford show a big jump in criminal damage during March.

There were 57 incidents reported to police in March, compared to 32 the previous month. The figure compares to an average 23 based on the last 12 months data.
Overall year-on-year crime was up 13.3%, with 3318 crimes reported in the 12 months to March 2019. This compares to 2929 In the 12 months to March 2018.
Vehicle crime was also at a high, with 32 incidents recorded, compared to an average of 17 per month over the last year.
Drug crime is relatively low in the town, making up just 3.5% of reports.
Geographically, the town centre sees the most crime, with other hotspots being the Sele Farm Estate and Rush Green, where 10 reports of shoplifting came from the service station.
