Consultation launched ahead of Bircherley Green parking ban
Plans to ban antisocial parking in a pedestrianised area of Bircherley Green have been unveiled by Hertfordshire County Council.

Following numerous complaints received from councillors and the local community, council officers assessed the area and identified unsafe parking and use of Bircherley Green by motorists.
Following a review of the existing pedestrian zone order, council officers deemed it necessary propose to make certain amendments so that new resrictions would ban all vehcles from the area andd ensure that new rules are enforceable.
The proposed pedestrian zone would prohibit all vehicles from entering, being in or waiting in that part of Bircherley Green, apart from market traders with a valid permit for setting up and taking down market stalls and the owner of the Ruby Room to enter the pedestrian zone to access the gate at the back of their property.
The proposals are designed to increase the safety of Bircherley Green for the community and decrease the misuse by non-authorised vehicles.
The existing bollards installed near the junction with Railway Street will be removed following adoption of the new regulations.
The proposals have been subject to consultation with local councillors, the district council, police, ambulance, fire & rescue services, Hertfordshire County Council Passenger Transport Unit, Hertford Town Council, local residents and businesses.
