Police set priorities for coming months

Sunday 12 January 2025

Local police have updated their priorities following feedback from residents about anti-social behaviour.

Police review local priorities every four months to provide a specific focus on the issues currently causing the most concern to residents.

Over the coming months, residents will see Officers in Hertford working alongside partners to address the following agreed priorities, through an increased police presence, engagement events and targeted enforcement:

  • Reduce anti-social behaviour around The Beam theatre and The Wash.
  • Reduce anti-social behaviour in the Mead Lane area.

Officers will continue to respond to daily business as usual, as well as forcewide priorities and any emerging issues which require more immediate action.

Previously, members of the public had raised concern about anti-social behaviour and criminal damage at Bircherley Green car park, along with incidents of anti-social driving in Thornton Street, Hertford. During one patrols on Folly Island, a motorbike was ridden down from Hartham and into the area. The rider was spoken to, their details were taken, and words of advice were given to take the long way round in future. Officers have also worked with the local authority to get a bollard and other roadside furniture fixed or replaced. These issues will continue to be monitored.

Lifts at Bircherley Green have been out of action following vandalism.
