12 new shops that opened in Hertford in 2024
Hertford Town centre saw the opening of 20 new retail premises during 2024. Some were relocations, such as Jade Pharmacy, whilst others were changes of ownership. Some replaced businesses that closed whilst others occupied new or redeveloped premises. In this short article we look at 12 of those new businesses.
1. Barkingham Palace

Opening at the end of August, Barkingham Palace is a dog grooming salon and spa and compliments Maugaux’s dog boutique just around the corner.
2. Boots
After a five year absence, Boots finally returned to the town as part of the Lea Wharf development.

4. Flowered Up

Florist Wendy Shipman opened her new shop in St Andrew Street just in time for Spring.
5. Gumtoad

This skilled and hygienic tattoo studio and custom clothing shop moved in to a redeveloped row of shops on Railway Street.

7. Nelore

This Brazilian steak house opened when the former Hummingbird gastro-pub closed.
8. Quattro Lounge

The first unit to open on the redeveloped Bircherley Green was Quattro Lounge, offering all-day food and drink on the Lea waterfront.
9. RollerFit

RollerFit specialises in providing completely natural and non-invasive treatments tailored for body shaping, cellulite reduction, and weight loss for both women and men.
10. Ruay Rot

Baan Thitiya returned to Hertford with their Thai takeaway and and delivery outlet in Old Cross.
11. Thirteen Artisan Bakery

Nisha started her bakery in November 2022, selling through local shops and stalls. She is now the proud owner of her own shop and on-site bakery at Mill Bridge, along with a small seating area.
12. 19/29 Cocktail Shop

19/29 Agency opened their Parliament Square outlet in December, specialising in premixed cocktails to enjoy at home.
