Lloyds Bank closure postponed for second time

The closure of Lloyds Bank in Market Place has been put back to Decmeber, following an eaelier postponement.

The bank closure was announced in September last year and the closing date was set for 12th February 2024.

The date was later revised to September 2024 and this has now been put back further to 9th December.

The bank say that only 168 customers have regularly used the bank in the 12 months to April 2023 and that personal customer transactions are down 71% in the five years to April.

Barclays Bank in Market Street closed on 25 February 2022, folowed by HSBC on 20th June 2023 and Natwest on 15th August 2023. All of the premises remain empty.
