Annual Crime Down 4%

Crime for the 12 months to November 2018 was down 4.3% compared to the previous 12 month period.

There were 3007 reported crimes from December 2017 to November 2018 - the previous twelve months saw 3141 crimes reported to police.

Over half of those crimes reported saw no further action being taken by police (56%), whilst 33% are under investigation. Just over 6% were sent to or dealy with by a court, with 3.7% being dealt with my police.

Half of all crime in November took place in and around the town centre - a pattern seen across the years.

Crime against the person and antisocial behaviour dominate the figures, with vehicle crime, criminal damage and shoplifting making up around a quarter of offences.

Bike theft in the three monts to November made up 4.7% of offences, with 39 cycles being reported stolen.
