Farmers' Market Facelift

Thursday 10 June 2010

The monthly Farmers' Market in Hertford is to get a facelift starting on Saturday.

The market will be relocated to Sailsbury Square and feature a new layout. Opening times will also be extened until 2pm.

Cllr Mike Carver, executive member for planning policy and transport said: "We're committed to supporting local farmers and traders struggling their way out of the recession and we hope that these changes will raise the profile of the market and secure its future in Hertford.

"As a market town, Hertford has a rich heritage in which the farmers' market plays a big part and it would be a real shame to lose it. With 100 year old recipe sausages, local hand-reared meat, plants and even face painting, the market offers so much for the whole family.

The Farmers' Market takes place on the 2nd Saturday of every month from 8:30am to 2pm and features local produce, including meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, cakes, pies, preserves and plants.
