Waste Plan Consultation
How we dispose of our waste is the subject of a consultation currently being conducted by the County Council.
The Council is preparing a plan that will cover the period from 2011-2026 and will set out the objectives for the future treatment of waste, including identifying potential sites for future waste facilities.
One of the sites shortlisted by the council is the former gas works in Mead Lane. Facilities on the site could include waste separation, the recovery of recycleable materials, a composting unit or energy generation.
The consultation opened yesterday and will last for six weeks.
