Shop faces prosecution

A Hertford retailer is facing prosecution after installing a new shopfront without planning permission or listed building consent.

Castle Food & Wine in The Wash installed the new shopfront in November shortly before opening. Despite warnings from the council that they needed to apply for permission, they have failed to lodge any applications. Planning Officers are now recommending that enforcement action be taken, including prosecution if necessary.

The matter is due to be discussed at the next Development Control Committee meeting on 12th January 2011.
