McDonalds traffic survey commissioned
MacDonalds have commissioned a traffic survey to provide data on traffic congestion issues at the Rush Green roundabout.
The junction suffers congestion when customers queue around the roundabout waiting to get on to the site, thereby blocking Stansted Road and causing a hazard for other road users on the roundabout. A Clearway regulation is in force which prohibits stopping but is widely ignored and rarely enforced by police.
Plans to add a short feeder lane to the MacDonalds' site entrance were approved in early 2022 but agreement on implementation has yet to be agreed between the highways authority and the site owner.
The Hertford outlet is one of the busiest in the UK and has recently changed ownership.
The survey is expected to start at the end of April, with the results available by the end of May or beginning of June.
