Man hit with metal post in Fore Street

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault in Fore Street on Saturday night.

The incident occurred between 3.15am and 3.23am on Sunday 11th February, when a suspect struck the victim on the head with a metal post, causing the victim to sustain a cut to their head that required hospital treatment.

The suspect is described as a white male, in his early twenties and was wearing a black coat with the hood up and balaclava covering most of his face with black trousers.

DC Clare Halfpenny, who is investigating, said: "I'd like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident, was in the area at the time or has any information that may help the investigation. If so, please contact me with details by email via clare.halfpenny@herts.police.uk."
