The Wash Closed For Two Weeks

Town centre congestion is predicted as The Wash closes for two weeks to enable pedestrain improvements at the junction with Maidenhead Street.

The Maidenhead Street project is designed to improve the environment for shoppers and visitors, and to encourage investment into the street. 

The work will create a raised crossing at the junction between Maidenhead St and The Wash to improve pedestrian access and to promote connectivity between Hertford East Rail Station and Hertford Theatre. The improvements also include reversal of the one way and no right turn at the end of The Wash to stop unauthorised vehicle access to Maidenhead St from The Wash.

Work is expected to last up to two weeks, with completion no later than Friday 5th October.
