Water Works Close Old Cross
Emergency works to repair a water main and restore supplies to premises have closed Old Cross.

Following an initial closure following a burst water main on Friday, workmen have returned to complete the work, which could take up to three days.
Alternative access to Bengeo is via either the A10 or through narrow residential streets, with social media users reporting delays of up to 45 minutes getting out of Bengeo during the morning rush-hour.

Hertfordshire Highways tweeted: "Affinity Water are currently carrying out repair works to a burst water main under an emergency road closure on Old Cross, Hertford. Please avoid the area where possible".

It is believed that Affinity Water are prioritising the restoration of services to some premises before completing the repair on the water main.

Update: Later on Tuesday afternoon Affinity Water Tweeted: "... unfortunately there's been a second burst here. Teams are currently fixing this now and I've been told that the area will be reinstated tonight (so we're still hoping to get the road re-open tomorrow)."
