Roadworks causing delays in Ware Road
Heavy delays have been reported in Ware Road as Affinity Water carry out essential repairs adjacent to Madford Retail Park.

Queueing traffic stretched back westwards through the Mill Road junctions and eastwards towards Gallows Hill.

At the end of April the water company installed temporary traffic lights to cover works at the junction of Hertingfordbury Road and Mimram Road, also causing longs tailbacks in both directions.
Affinity Water most recently dug up Ware Road in December, causing delays with the deployment of temporary traffic lights. This followed work further to the east the previous month.
At the beginning of February Affinity Water also carried out repairs in Old Cross.
At the end of this month Affinity will also be working in North Road adjacent to Cross Lane, with temporary traffic lights again controlling traffic flow.
The UK has some of in the oldest water infrastructure in the world and for years has been neglected. Water distribution systems in many towns suffer from antiquated piping systems which are ceasing to operate efficiently due to outdated materials and structures that are deteriorating.
