Tories wiped out on town council

Conservatives councillors have been wiped out following yesterday's town council elections

Tory councillors Sally Newton, Jan Godeve, Rosemary Bolton and Mayor Sue Barber all failed in their bids to be re-elected.

The new council will be made up of 12 Green and 4 Labour councillors.

The town council is responsible for neighbourhood planning, cemeteries, allotments, the town and tourist information centre, events promoting the town centre, and town centre CCTV. The council is also a statutory consultee in local plannig applications. 

For town council elections, Hertford is split in to six electoral areas called wards. The results are shown below, with those elected shown in bold.

Bengeo North
