Woman hurt in hit-and-run

Thursday 23 March 2023

A woman was seriously injured in a hit-and-run in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The incident occurred in Mill Road, at the junction with Railway Street, at around 2.20am on Saturday 18t March.

A dark coloured Ford Fiesta, possibly a mark 6 model, reportedly mounted a kerb and struck the 28-year-old woman, knocking her to the ground and leaving her with bruising and two broken ribs.

The vehicle, which contained two males, then made off.

PC Amy Philpot, who is investigating, said: "This is a shocking incident which has left a woman with serious injuries. Our enquiries are continuing at this time to trace the vehicle involved, including a review of CCTV.

"As part of our ongoing investigations, we’d also like to hear from anyone who may have seen the vehicle being driven in the area around the time. We’d be particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have captured dash cam footage.

"If you can help, please get in touch. It's vital that we catch up with this person as soon as possible before anyone else gets hurt."

Anyone with information is asked to please contact PC Philpot via email at amy.philpot@herts.police.uk. Information can also be reported online, by speaking to an operator via our online web chat or by calling 101, quoting crime reference 41/22411/23.
