Parliamentary boundary changes proposed

Tuesday 15 November 2022

Changes to the boundaries of the Hertford & Stortford parliamentary constituency are being proposed as part of a nationwide review by the Boundary Commission.

The commission are currently reviewing all Parliamentary constituencies, to rebalance the number of electors in each, with a final report due by 1st July 2023.

Changes proposed for Hertford & Stortford include moving some settlements to the south and east of Hertford to the parliamentary constiuency of Broxbourne. This includes Hertford Heath and Brickendon.

The Hertford & Stortford constituency would become smaller, with some areas south of Hertford becoming part of the Broxbourne constituency

You can view the boundary changes map and submit comments on the Boundary Commission Reviews website

After the Government receives the Boundary Commission's final recommendations it is responsible for drawing up a single draft Order in Council to implement the recommendations. The Government must submit the draft Order to the King in Council for approval. The draft Order must contain the final recommendations of the Boundary Commissions. The Government cannot make changes.

The new boundaries will be used at the first general election after the Order comes into force.
