MP welcomes PM resignation

Constituency MP Julie Marson has welcomed the resignation of Liz Truss as Conservative Party leader, sayonmg she is frustrated and angry at the turn of events.

Writing on Twitter, Ms Marson says she did not votes for Ms Truss as she "feared Liz's approach to the economy".

Ms Marson also reveals that she submitted a letter of no confidence on Monday 17th October.

In a later Tweet Ms Marson says that she will be supporting Rishi Sunak, should he stand for leader of the party.

"I am backing Rishi Sunak for party leader. He has a proven track record of steering our economy through turbulent times and supporting the lives and livelihoods of millions of people. I believe he will unite our party and country, to lead us through the enormous challenges ahead."

Julie Marson was elected MP for Hertford & Stortford in 2019 with a majority of 19,620, and a 56.1% share of the vote.
