Police appeal after series of vehicle crimes

Police are appealing for CCTV footage after a spate of thefts from motor vehicles and vehicle interference.

Over a period of 8 days a total of seven offences were reported, mostly in Bengeo but with others elsewhere.

The full list of offences published by police is:

Alexander Road between 6pm on 30th and 9:10am on 31st August (interference) crime no.41/70172/22
Byde Street on the night of 30th/31st August (theft) crime no.41/71849/22
Palmer Road between 31st August and 1st September (theft) crime no.41/70750/22
Port Hile between 7:30pm on 31st August and 7am on 1st September (theft) crime no.41/70455/22
Owens View on 1st eptember between 3:26 and 3:30am (interference) crime no.41/70911/22
Gosslin Road on 3rd September at 3:30am (interference) crime no.41/71077/22
Cecil Road on 6th September between 8:45pm and 9:30pm (theft) crime no.41/72165/22

Anyone with CCTV of these areas around the time of the crimes are asked to contact police on the non-emergency number 101, Alternatively, you can give information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Police are also reminding vehicle owners to ensure they lock doors and shut windows when leaving their vehicle unattended, always remove keys from the ignition even if you’re just stopping. When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm if you have them, or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp. Never leave valuables in your vehicle and remove satnavs and holders.
