Mayor issues statement on the death of Queen Elizabeth II

The Mayor of Hertford Cllr. Susan Barber has issued a statement following the death of the Queen.

"Her Majesty the Queen gave a lifetime of service to our country. Known for her sense of duty and her devotion to a life of service, she has been an important figurehead for the UK and the Commonwealth during times of enormous social change. That service leaves a considerable legacy including her extraordinary support for public and voluntary service."

Hertford Castle is flying its flag at half-mast during the period of national mourning. Flowers in memory of the Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II may be left at either side of doors facing the main lawn at Hertford Castle.

A book of Remembrance is available at Hertford Castle for local residents to sign during the Town Council opening hours.
