Tributes paid to local campaigner
Residents came together on Saturday to remember local campaigner George Sandell, who died in April aged 84.

Friends, fellow campaigners and family gathered at Waterford Common where a bench has been installed to commemorate Mr.Sandell's life and work.
From a very young age Mr.Sandell was involved with Scouting, and living in London enjoyed the camping trips which ignited his love of the countryside. This was further reinforced following his evacuation to Great Wymondley during the Second World War.
He involved himself in all manner of service to the community, from driving and fundraising for the Herts Playbus, helping to run the village hall and securing a playing field and building a playground. He was a Governor at local schools, served on the local police advisory committee and was a lay visitor, and drove in the Convoy of Hope to besieged Kosovo.
For his community Service he was Awarded the MBE in 1996, which he accepted with his usual modesty.
He is remembered by many as the Chairman of the Campaign Against Gravel Extraction and was very proud to have worked alongside so many local people.
He died at Lister Hospital on 2rd April.
