Festival To Launch Art Exhibition
Hertford Arts Hub are staging a weekend festival of visual art, music and literature to coincide with the launch of a four week exhibition at The Old Brewery.

The Let Us Leap festival, organised in partnership with Hertford Town Council, East Herts District Council, Hertford Theatre, Hertford Library and the University of Hertfordshire, includes a poetry workshop, live music from The James Taylor Quartet, a "draw jam" and a talk by Helen Little on the work of local artist Alan Davie, to coincide with the opening of a four week exhibition of his work at the Old Brewery in Hartham Lane.
Alan Davie (1920-2014), worked from his home and studio in nearby Rush Green for over 50 years.
The exhibition, which continues until 14 July, traces the development of Davie’s practice over the last sixty years, highlighting particular moments in his visual journey. Loaned from the artist’s estate, it features seldom seen drawings and paintings whose kaleidoscopic medleys of gestures, forms and signs celebrate a world of imagination beyond the reality of the now.
Plans are underway to establish a new public gallery with a permanent collection of the artist’s work for the town. A model created by award winning architects Carmody Groarke, presented as part of the project to bring the historic brewery to life.
