Vaccine offered to Group 6

Saturday 27 February 2021

Hertford's GP surgeries are now offering the Covid-19 vaccine to those aged 16-64 who are clinically at risk, Group 6 in the Government’s guidelines.

Members of this group can expect to receive a letter or NHS text to attend one of the local mass vaccination centres to be vaccinated.

Patients are asked not to ring the surgery to enquire about, or to book, a vaccine appointment.

Vaccinations are taking place at Hertford Theatre, but appointments can also be booked at Robertson House in Stevenage.

Both the Pfizer and Astra Zenica vaccines are being used, depending on availability and deliveries. Patients do not have a choice over which vaccine to receive.

Bengeo hit hard

Figures published by the Office of National Statistics show that 14 deaths were recorded in Bengeo last month. This is more than double the rest of the town, where six deaths were recorded. Bengeo has the highest proportion of over 65s, making up 20.3% of the population. In Kingsmead Ward the figure is just 10.2%, whilst in Castle Ward it's 16.5% and Sele Ward 15.3%.
