Railway Street parking ban proposed

Tuesday 23 February 2021

A public consultation is being held on plans to implement a parking ban in parts of Railway Street.

The proposals would see new double-yellow lines on the section between Bircherley Street and South Street, and to the junction with Priory Street.

Currently there is only a single yellow line on these sections, meaning that vehicles can park in the evenings and on Sundays. This often causes problems for buses, especially where there is a traffic island outside the Friends Meeting House. Drivers report having to drive on the wrong side of the island as the carriageway is effectively blocked.

The consultation can be found on the county council's website and closes on Monday 8th March 2021.
