Pupils sent home after positive Covid-19 tests

Sunday 25 October 2020

Simon Balle and Sele Schools have sent home pupils from senior years after students tested positive for Covid-19.

Simon Balle School in Magrove Road closed Year 11 on Wednesday (21st October) after a child tested positive, whilst on Thursday, Year 10 pupils were sent home after two students tested positive.

Over at Sele School in Welwyn Road, a teacher and Year 9 pupil have both tested positive for the virus.

In a letter to parents and carers, Head of The Sele School Chris Quach said: "I am writing to inform you that we have two confirmed positive cases of Coronavirus at The Sele School - one student in Year 9 and one member of staff.

"We have acted swiftly and followed the guidance provided and all close contacts have been informed and are isolating. Public Health England and the Local Authority have been notified and we have been deemed safe to continue providing on-site education.

"Please be reassured that the site is safe as regular and deep cleaning is part of our response to the pandemic. Furthermore, all members of staff are now wearing face coverings indoors for an added layer of safety.

"We continue to enforce our safety measures as per our Risk Assessment and remind all members of our community to adhere to scientific advice"
