Consultations launched on Neighbourhood Plans

Wednesday 15 July 2020

The district council are launching a pair of consultations on neighbourhood plans that will influence the development of Bengeo and Sele wards in the coming years.

The Sele and Bengeo neighbourhood plans were launched in 2016 and 2017 respectively and the process has been driven by local residents and the town council.

Neighbourhood Plans are part of the planning process, aimed at giving more say to local people. It can set out planning policies for the development and the use of land in a local area. Once adopted a Neighbourhood Plan forms part of the statutory documentation that is used to determine planning applications. Before the planning authority, which is East Herts District Council, can adopt the plan, it needs to hear the views of its residents.

Following earlier pre-submission consultations held between 4th February and 24th March 2019 (Sele) and 15th July to 15th September 2019 (Bengeo), the final draft plans were submitted to East Herts District Council back in February.

The consultations will run from 16th July to 10th September 2020. Residents can submit comments either online or by printing and filling out a form and posting to East Herts Council.
