Gasworks enquiry under way
A public enquiry in to the District Council's refusal of planning permission for 375 new homes on the site of the former Hertford gasworks has begun at Hanbury Manor.

Developer St.William is appealing after the council's Development Control Committee unanimously rejected the plans in July.
The plans were refused on numerous grounds including overdevelopment and the impact on the public highway. The site is allocated for around 200 homes in the District Plan.
The appeal is being heard by a government inspector, with the public enquiry set to last for 12 days, ending on 12th December. The venue was originally scheduled for County Hall but was changed due to the general election.
No date has yet been set for a final decision.
