Man guilty of assault and controlling behaviour

A Hertford man has been found guilty of sexual assault by penetration, coercive and controlling behaviour and assault by beating following a trial at St Albans Crown Court on 2nd July.

Costas Jordanou, aged 34, of Bluecoat Court, Hertford, was charged and remanded on 19th December 2025 following an investigation by the Sexual Offences Investigation Team (SOIT).

Detective Constable Jason Tinsey, from SOIT, said: "It took great courage for the victim to come forward and report the abuse she sustained at the hands of Jordanou and I’m pleased we’ve been able to secure this conviction.

"We take reports of this nature very seriously. If anyone has experienced sexual assault or abuse, you will always be believed and we will do all we can to support you."

Costas Jordanou will be sentenced on Friday 21 August.
