Council launches initial consultation on Local Plan
East Herts Council are inviting local residents to help shape the future of the district as they launch a public consultation on a new Local Plan.

The new Local Plan will set out how East Herts will grow in the coming years while protecting and enhancing district's character. Key issues to be addressed in the Local Plan include housing, employment, infrastructure, the natural and historic environment, and the health and wellbeing of local communities.
This early 'Scoping Consultation' is the first step in the Local Plan process and seeks views from residents, businesses, community groups and other stakeholders on the main challenges and priorities for the district. Feedback will help guide both the scope of the plan and how the council engages with communities moving forward.
Cllr Vicky Glover-Ward said, "We are eager for residents to get involved at the earliest stage of preparing our new Local Plan, so that we can effectively work together towards the brightest future for East Herts.
"This is an important opportunity for people to tell us what matters most to them - whether that’s delivering the right homes in the right places, protecting our natural and historic environment, improving infrastructure, or supporting healthy and thriving communities."
"We know there are significant challenges ahead, from meeting housing need to responding to climate change and supporting sustainable economic growth. By listening carefully to local views now, we can make sure the Local Plan reflects the priorities of our communities and strikes the right balance between growth and preserving what makes East Herts such a special place to live. I would strongly encourage everyone to take part in the consultation before the deadline on Friday 10th July.”
Residents can share their views on the council’s online engagement platform.
