Council provides update on flooded subway
Hertfordshire County Council has provided an update on the flooding in the St.Andrew Street subway.

The pedestrian underpass has been impassable for three weeks due to flooding caused by a failed pump. The subway provides access to the Aldi supermarket from the town centre.
Public frustration at the failure of the county council to address the issue has increased, with local councillors also voicing concerns and putting pressure on council officers.
We appreciate this a frustrating situation for people wanting to use the subway, and we are working hard to resolve the flooding problem. There is an issue with the pump that carries water away from this location, and this is what is causing the flooding. We are currently awaiting delivery of a replacement pump, and as soon as we have that we will prioritise the replacement works, which will resolve the flooding.
In the meantime, we are actively exploring alternative measures to help manage the situation. This includes temporary solutions to minimise the impact of flooding and provide clear direction for pedestrians to safe alternative crossing points."
