Roadworks to close McDonalds for one month

McDonalds outlet at Rush Green is to close for a month from 14th June so that a new feeder lane can be installed alongside the roundabout.

It is hoped the new feeder lane will reduce congestion from the roundabout at peak times as customers queue for the car park and takeaway.

The carriageway in front of the restaurant is already the subject of a Clearway order that prohibits stopping on the roundabout but this is routinely ignored and rarely enforced.

Campaigners have been pressing for a solution to the dangerous queueing that prevents ingress from the A1502 Stansted Road and causes vehicles already on the roundabout to swerve when suddenly faced with stationery traffic.

Changes on site will also see the addition of a second order point allowing dual ordering and making the drive thru more efficient and quicker.

The drive-thru is expected to reopen on 14th July, with the restaurant fully re-opening on 4th August.
