Local Election Candidates Announced
Candidate lists for the forthcoming town and district council elections have been published after nominations closed on 3rd April.

Elections are taking place for 16 town council seats and 10 district councils seats.
The previous town council was made up of 15 Conservative representatives and one Labour. Of the ten district councillors, 9 were Conservative with one independent.
Candidates from the three major parties are standing, along with members of the Labour & Co-operative party, Greens and two independents. One of the independent candidates is standing under the banner of "Independence For Folly Island".
The UK Independence Party are not fielding any candidates.
Whilst many town councillors are seeking re-election, a number are standing down, including the Mayor Beryl Wrangles, Andrew Stevenson and the sole Labour councillor Peter Boyle.
One of the town's longest serving councillors, Peter Ruffles, is standing in both elections.
