Wickes plans extension to Hertford store

Sunday 23 November 2025

Home improvement retailer Wickes are planning to extend their outlet at Madford Retail Park by moving the kitchen and bathroom showroom to a new mezzanine floor,  enabling an improved shop layout at ground floor.

A planning application to extend the store has been submitted to East Herts Council by agents acting for the retailer.

The businss is looking to improve the quality of its existing retail offer through the introduction of additional internal retail floorspace.

These store improvements have been rolled out by WBS across the UK in recent years with more than half of the portfolio now benefitting new the 'new look' Wickes offer. The qualitative improvements have brought about a considerable increase in store profitability, so the investment has been particularly timely given the very difficult trading conditions, brought out by the prevailing economic uncertainty.
