Population of Hertford increases to 31,000

New data release by the Office of National Statistics estimates the population of Hertford has increased to 30,969.

The figure represents the number of people living in the town in mid-2024 and is up 5% compared to the 2021 Census, when it was 29,423.

The town is made up of four statistical areas that are similar to the four electoral wards of Sele, Bengeo, Castle and Kingsmead, using boundries in place at the 2021 Census. The population for each is:

Bengeo 8174
Castle 10254
Kingsmead 6088
Sele 6453
